This idea of “we’re just going to be best friends and see what develops from that” sounds fine, except that it doesn’t work that way. There has to be a moment of honesty where someone says “I am not trying to be your friend, I am trying to date you because I am hot for you and you are awesome and there it is.” Honesty is a must in relationships and using “friends” as a cover for being chicken is not a substitute.
