2 Corinthians 9:7 says, “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” There is no cheerful giving where there is an obligation. In truth, obligations are always a miserable chore, and we build resentment towards the object of that obligation, no matter how we might fool ourselves into thinking otherwise. Get-to’s are always more pleasant than have-to’s.
