Repressing anger may be culturally ‘Christian’, but it is uniquely ungodly. When you repress anger, it has a way of coming back twice as strong, and often at someone other than who caused that anger in the first place. We want to let God take that anger off of our shoulders so it doesn’t weigh us down. That is very different from repression, because it starts with acknowledging your feeling.
