Pride is ravenous. Feeding your pride means starving everything else. Love, service, joy, peace, can all be consumed by the obsession with self.

The answer is not self hatred. That is not the opposite of pride, because it too is a form of self obsession. The answer is to give up what you think about yourself to God. You know how He feels about you. He loves you, He accepts you, He is patient with you. Once you understand that opinion of yourself, no other one matters.
